Water
Quality Mapping
Applied Analysis Inc. has developed comprehensive, proprietary
software for water quality monitoring based on many years of research
and experience in spectral
analysis algorithm development. This software can be used to
map several water quality parameters simultaneously. There are four
primary advantages to this approach:
· Provides synoptic view of water body
· Permits repetitive coverage
· Uses multispectral or hyperspectral data
· Only requires low-cost data

Our QSC2 software
processes multispectral or hyperspectral images to measure the water
quality parameters of:
· Suspended Chlorophyll (Chl)
· Suspended Minerals (SM)
· Colored Dissolved Organic Carbon (CDOC)
· Depth
In addition, the following parameters are derived from these measurements:
· Secchi Depth
· Turbidity
· Horizontal and vertical subsurface sighting distance
· Trophic Status Indicator (TSI)
The QSC2 process utilizes subpixel
analysis software to compensate automatically for atmospheric
effects, sun and sky reflections from the water surface, subpixel
contributions from exposed land, and variations in the bottom material
properties. The software allows for a direct measurement of the
scene-averaged water column characteristics, enabling accurate and
uniform water column characterization and scene-to-scene analysis.
